Hackney London wedding photographer | Sally & Gerard

What an incredible way to start my 2022 wedding season: a super cool Hackney London wedding!

I had originally met Sally and Gerard when they were guests at a lovely wedding I shot last year, and was delighted when they got in touch and asked me to be their wedding photographer too. A gorgeous spring day, the wedding began with a ceremony at the elegant Hackney Town Hall. Afterwards, the guests travelled on that classic London wedding bus, the Routemaster, to their reception at Hackney Coffee Co., which the couple had privately hired for the day. A gem of a wedding venue in London, the exposed brick walls and double-height ceilings, along with the elegant decor throughout, makes it a perfect choice for a wedding in Hackney. The already-beautiful space was further enhanced by Rebel Rebel, who skillfully transformed it into a floral wonderland. They also created Sally’s colourful, modern bouquet which perfectly complimented her chic gown by Ghost London. The stunning three-tiered bespoke cake was created by Nada at Little London Bakery.

Before joining their guests at the reception, the couple took a relaxed wander through the colourful, urban landscape of Hackney London where we captured some quiet, happy moments of newlywed bliss between them. Shortly after, they re-joined their wedding party and continued the celebrations. It was an absolute pleasure to capture such an elegant fun London wedding, and meet all of their wonderful friends and family.

Congratulations Sally and Gerard, I wish you a long, happy and healthy life together and thanks again for having me!

If you’re considering a Hackney London wedding, or maybe somewhere completely different (!) but like my style of photography, I would love to hear from you. Please get in touch using the contact form below and I will let you know if I am available on your date.

    Enjoy the images! Siobhan x

Thank you for taking the time to view this gorgeous wedding. I would LOVE to hear about your own wedding plans, so please complete the form below and let’s create some magic together!

  • Intimate London Wedding at Islington Town Hall

Intimate London Wedding at Islington Town Hall

Nastasja and Rob celebrated their special day with a simple wedding at Islington Town Hall, one of my favourite London wedding venues.

With immediately family only, they made the short walk from their home to the town hall on a beautiful late summer afternoon. Afterward the ceremony, we took a wander around the bustling Coal Drop’s Yard in King’s Cross where they enjoyed a celebratory meal with their loved ones. As you can see, Nastasja looked absolutely incredible in her Self-Portrait jumpsuit, as did her new husband in Canali. Her modern, vibrant bouquet was created by the very talented Gail Smith Flowers, and perfectly complemented the look. The couple, who have a shared love of travel and adventure, had originally planned to get married in Italy but unfortunately that wasn’t possible due to the Covid situation. Instead, they kept it simple and joyous, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful.

And thank you for the lovely review on Google: “Siobhan went above and beyond, taking incredibly beautiful photos and capturing the magic and joy of this most special day. We would absolutely recommend Siobhan to our family and friends and hope we can work together again in the future!”

Congratulations Nastasja and Rob, wishing you both a long and happy life together! If you’d like to book photography for your wedding at Islington town hall, please get in touch here as soon as possible as my diary for 2022 and 2023 is filling up fast!

  • Intimate Surrey wedding at Leatherhead and Boxhill

Intimate Surrey wedding at Leatherhead and Boxhill

Well, 2020 didn’t quite turn out the way we’d hoped. So many couples had their wedding plans thwarted and chose to postpone until a later date.

Luckily for me, some did  decide to press ahead with their plans and one such couple was Sarah and Matt. As the government advice changed on a regular basis, they kept things flexible and prepared themselves for all eventualities. They decided to go ahead with their intimate Surrey wedding at Leatherhead registry office joined only by their immediate families and closest friends, in keeping with the guidelines. It felt very special to document this intimate day, and to witness their absolute joy to finally tie the knot.

It was a beautiful, sunny August day and after the short ceremony, the wedding party made their way to Boxhill, one of Surrey’s most scenic areas with breathtaking views across the North Downs, where they enjoyed a celebratory picnic. Their guests were treated to Franco Manco pizza and a delicious cake by Lolo’s Cupcakes and played party games together. We also made the most of the stunning location to capture some gorgeous and relaxed wedding portraits. Before the pandemic, finding the time to shoot portraits often meant the couple would miss a lot of the cocktail reception or other parts of their  tightly-scheduled day, but one of the great positives about having a lockdown wedding is you have all the time you need to relax and have fun creating incredible wedding portraits together. Later that evening, we decided to head to Pewley Down, another beautiful location close to Sarah and Matt’s home in Guildford to catch some golden hour sunlight. The perfect end to an incredible day.  Part two of their wedding celebrations took place a few days later, where they held a beautiful outdoor ceremony and reception at Cobham Village Hall. I will post some images from that soon, but in the meantime, enjoy the gallery below.

If you are also planning an intimate Surrey wedding, I would love to hear from you. Get in touch via my contact form, email siobhan@siobhanhphotography.com or call me on 07809 575 460.

Sarah and Matt, thank you so much for allowing me to document your amazing wedding and I wish you both a long, healthy and very happy life together!

Burhill Golf Club Surrey wedding photographer

On a beautiful summer’s day last June, I had the pleasure of capturing Sonia and Simon’s relaxed and fun-filled wedding in Hersham, Surrey. In the presence of their families (and two beautiful daughters!), they tied the knot at St. Barnabas church in East Molesey, followed by a private meal at The Ivy in Cobham (a sneaky drink at The Bear first, of course!). They were then joined by all of their friends for a wonderful reception at one of Surrey’s most elegant wedding venues, Burhill Golf Club in Hersham, where guests took in the glorious views, sipped champagne, mingled with old friends and danced the night away!

Here are some highlights from their day, hope you enjoy them!

  • Relaxed and intimate Marylebone wedding | Texture restaurant London

Relaxed and intimate Marylebone wedding | Texture restaurant London

This relaxed and intimate Marylebone wedding was always going to be a joy to capture.

The gorgeous bride, Catriona, is actually from the same part of Ireland as me – we even went to school together in Tipperary – so it was wonderful to re-connect with her in London all these years later. Not only is she a highly-respected architect, she also oozes style and confidence and is one of those really fun, relaxed people who everyone loves to be around. Her new husband is just like her, and together they made their wedding day exactly what they wanted it to be: low-key, laid-back and full of laughter.

Catriona wore an utterly fabulous pink Maison Margiela dress with a contrasting magenta coat, both from Selfridges, which is where the bridal party also started their wedding day. The talented team at  Daniel Galvin took care of the hair, with a make-up artist from  Charlotte Tilbury creating a modern bridal beauty look afterwards. After a quick change into their outfits back at The Marylebone Hotel, the small wedding party gathered for the ceremony in the Soho room at  Old Marylebone Town Hall.

Laughter and joy abound, the guests made their way to  Texture, a Michelin-starred restaurant run by Icelandic chef Aggi Sverrisson. There, the guests relaxed with champagne and more laughter, followed by some incredible Scandinavian food. The whole day was a pleasure to be a part of, and it reflected the couple’s personalities so perfectly.

Congratulations Catriona and Stuart, I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

If you’re planning an informal and intimate London wedding in a style that reflects who you both are, I would love to capture it for you!   Get in touch here and tell me all about it.

As born and bred Londoners, Melanie and David celebrated their city to the max on their wedding day. First Dance | Somerley House wedding photographer

    Bridal editorial at Somerley House

I have often wondered what it is I love most about photographing weddings, and I eventually came to the conclusion that it is really about the energy of the day.

My favourite part is often the wedding morning, there is a certain giddiness in the air with the bride-to-be almost floating on air, filled with nervous excitement. This was something I wanted to explore in a styled shoot at the beautiful Grade II listed wedding venue Somerley House in Ringwood, Hampshire. Working with the wonderful Valentina from  The Stars Inside, we developed the concept further focusing on the lightness of being, the grace and movement of the real ‘first dance’ on a wedding day.

Situated on the outskirts of the glorious  New Forest, Somerley House was the perfect venue; elegant, refined and a haven for all the dreamers out there. There are so many beautiful details both inside and outside this stately home, it offers so many creative opportunities for designing your wedding day. Wild, ikebana-inspired floral creations by  Jenni Bloom added an extra sprinkling of magic to this beautiful space.

Our theme was echoed by the dessert table, created by the amazing Kate Burt. It featured a similar colour palette of pale greys, powder chalk blues, and ballet satin pinks and focused on textures that evoke romance and the passing of time. Kate’s The stationery by Elin’s Art Studio also reflected the delicate and elegant mood of the day.

A huge thank to make-up artist extraordinaire  Susan Yates and hair stylist  Grace Bailey.

The words of wedding stylist Valentina perfectly sum up the shoot:

“All together, the narrative is one of both trepidation and fearlessness, poise and imperfection – girl and woman, preparing for this brand new chapter of her life.”

Scroll to the bottom to see the fabulous behind-the-scenes video by  Wyld Weddings  and the full list of suppliers we worked with.

If you are looking for a Somerley House wedding photographer, or would like a similar photography approach on your day (alongside all the fun, candid moments, of course!) I would love to hear from you. Just drop me a line at siobhan@siobhanhphotography.com or call me on 07809575460 to check my availability.

  • Loseley Park Guildford wedding photographer | Siobhan H Photography

Loseley Park Guildford wedding photographer | Siobhan H Photography

Stylish, luxury wedding at  Loseley Park in Guildford, Surrey.

Loseley Park is one of Surrey’s best wedding venues, situated just outside of Guildford. With beautiful rolling park land, an impressive Elizabethan mansion and a tithe barn it is perfect for a relaxed and stylish wedding. I first met Verity when she visited my stand at  Brides the Show and of course, I was delighted when she asked me to be her wedding photographer. Before the wedding, we had the most perfect engagement shoot in Brighton, where their love story began, years before. There is nothing more joyful than capturing a couple so clearly in love, so I knew their wedding would be an emotional day.

On the day itself, the weather decided to be wild and unpredictable; we had downpours, thunderstorms, and blazing sunshine. An interesting (and challenging!) mix but we made the most of it. Verity and Joe exchanged vows in a very moving ceremony, and afterwards the guests made their way to the tithe barn for a cocktail reception. Verity had mentioned her wonderful idea of a New Orleans-inspired  second line parade across the grounds in our previous emails, and it was everything I had hoped for – and more.

The sun came out, the flags waved, and the brass band lead the wedding party into Loseley’s walled rose garden and back to the reception again. The tradition signifies the start of a new chapter of life for the bride and groom, and I would recommend it to all wedding couples. It is the most joyous thing and everyone loved it.

The reception was bursting with floral beauty, thanks to the fabulous  Alicia Tennant, as well as some beautiful touches by the bride and groom. As expected, the speeches were filled with emotion – not least from the bride’s dad, who had half the room in tears with his touching tribute to his daughter and new son-in-law.

The evening continued with Joe’s sister taking to the stage with the band, and everyone partying the night away.

Thank you so much for having me guys! It has become a beautiful summer memory, and I was so honoured to be part of it.

  • A look back at 2018 | Siobhan H wedding photography

A look back at 2018 | Siobhan H wedding photography

2018 has been an exciting year for me, and I’ve had a lovely couple of weeks to relax, and look back on it with pride. It was a fairly epic start; back in January I won a big award for my event photography which was pretty amazing and unexpected, and that side of my business has been a big focus throughout the year. I love capturing events as they have a lot of the same characteristics as weddings: fast-moving, documenting all those little (and big) moments, thinking on your feet and quickly finding solutions to whatever challenges are thrown your way (tricky lighting, bad weather, impromptu group shots, etc). So I have been really developing my skills in those areas this year. I’ve also been lucky enough to photograph some amazing weddings which I look back on with complete joy. I know I’m just there to take the pictures but I always end up making a real connection with my couples, and it fills me with happiness when they love their images as much as I do. Weather-wise, my camera and I have handled scorching heatwaves, epic thunderstorms, and driving rain amongst other things and we have conquered them! Here are a few highlights from some of the weddings I was lucky enough to capture this year. Looking forward to 2019 and doing it all over again!

    Happy New Year everyone!

Beautiful DIY wedding |The Yoghurt Rooms East Grinstead wedding photographer

If you are looking for clever, creative DIY ideas for your wedding day, you are going to love this wedding! Alexander and Aimée held their ceremony at St Swithun’s church in East Grinstead, followed by a wonderful reception at  The Yoghurt Rooms.

Bursting with original, unique details that worked beautifully at this fun, countryside wedding venue, they treated their guests to a memorable day in the September sunshine. An entrance display of their story so far, including their  engagement photos, beautiful homemade stationery, delicate china cups resting on stacks of well-read books, recycled tins holding potted flowers and treats, and a collection of vintage framed photos remembering loved ones – the list goes on. All the details came together in such a meaningful way, it was perfect.

The guests enjoyed delicious cocktails, a relaxed wedding breakfast before the ice-cream van rocked up and the party started!

    Here are their top tips:

    • “Decide on a theme that best suits the venue and represents you as a couple without dictating a particular colour scheme.”
    • “Work with that theme and all the things that mean something to you both throughout to bring it together.”
    • “Believe in your ability to create anything you want and dream of.”

Congratulations Alexander and Aimée, I feel so very honoured to have been your wedding photographer! It was such a special day to be a part of, one of the highlights of my summer in fact. Thanks also to my fab second photographer, Kerry.

Some kind words from the bride and groom:

“Hi Siobhan, we have just looked through the pictures….wow! Amazing, we love them so much! Thank you for giving us a memory that we can treasure for ever. That we can look back on and remember the best day of our lives.”

  • Stylish London Wedding in Islington | Day Two

Stylish London Wedding in Islington | Day Two

Here are some highlights from day two of Caroline and Julian’s stylish London wedding. I’m playing catch-up a little here but better late than never!

The previous day, which you can see  here,  they had held an intimate ceremony at  Islington Town Hall followed by a celebratory lunch at  Frederick’s restaurant nearby. For the second part, they both wanted a very relaxed wedding reception for their guests with lots of opportunities to mingle and an abundance of fun.

Rather than hire a wedding venue in Islington, they decided to transform the architectural offices run by the groom’s parents with the help of the wonderfully-talented Andri Benson from Always Andri Weddings. With her vision, the space was styled in a very chic and modern way, and adapted to suit the relaxed mingling of wedding guests. Additional rooms with arcade games, movies, and chill-out spaces meant the kids (and adults) had plenty of fun – despite the rain outside!

The bride’s daughter looked very cool wearing a matching suit to the groom, music was provided by top UK DJ’s  Wedding Smashers and the guests enjoyed delicious bowl food, which is a hot trend for weddings at the moment.

You can see the full list of amazing wedding suppliers at the end of this post but in the meantime, take a look at this very original and stylish London wedding and be inspired!

  • Beautiful Engagement shoot in Suffolk, England

Here are a few highlights from a beautiful engagement shoot in Suffolk earlier this year.

A wonderful spring afternoon spent wandering under the open skies of Suffolk with Alexander and Aimee. The groom-to-be spent much of his childhood in  Constable country so it was really special to mark this time in their lives in a place so close to his heart – and so beautiful, too. They will be celebrating their wedding at the  Yogurt Rooms in Sussex later this year, which I cannot wait to capture for them.

Hope you enjoyed these highlights from their engagement shoot. If you’d like something similar, please get in touch below. I include a gorgeous engagement session with my main wedding collections as it is a lovely way to get couples relaxed in front of the camera before the big day. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Stylish Putney wedding at Thames Rowing Club | Winter wedding in London

Stylish Putney wedding at Thames Rowing Club | Winter wedding in London

Hi all, I’m so happy to share Kirsteen and Joe’s elegant winter wedding in London which took place in Chiswick and Putney, at the  Thames Rowing Club.

Kirsteen prepared at her parent’s home in Chiswick alongside her family and afterwards, they made their way to the historic   St.Nicholas’ church where their guests and a nervous-looking Joe were waiting. She looked a picture of beauty in her gorgeous Shamali gown from  Daisy’s Bridal Couture.

After the ceremony, the guests travelled on private London bus to their Putney wedding venue, the  Thames Rowing Club. As the December sun went down over the Thames, the guests entered a magical winter wedding reception, filled with twinkling festive touches and a distinctive nod to the bride’s Scottish heritage. Joe is originally from Ireland, so a large contingent of friends and family from the Emerald Isle were also present.

The celebrations finished with a lively ceilidh which was enjoyed by all. Congratulations Kirsteen and Joe, and thank you for allowing me to be part of your wonderful winter wedding in London!

Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and love together!

    Siobhan x

Some lovely words from the bride & groom:

“We wanted to say a massive thank you for the absolutely beautiful photos that you took of our wedding day. You really did capture it so perfectly & we’re so lucky to have such a wonderful reminder of the day. You were absolutely brilliant throughout last year & you did an amazing job on the day, fitting in so well on the morning through to the dancing. In fact, a few people asked if we’d had a photographer there which is a huge testament to your work! We honestly couldn’t imagine having anyone better for the job, you were just brilliant. Thanks also for the beautiful box, prints & USB stick – something else to treasure along with our engagement photo book.”

  • 2018 wedding trends | UK wedding inspiration

2018 wedding trends | UK wedding inspiration

Congratulations, it’s wedding planning time (hurrah!) and I have put together a quick look at the best 2018 wedding trends for you.

I have scoured the finest bridal blogs, flicked through the top wedding magazines and even photographed the coolest weddings to see what new ideas and trends are out there, saving you hours of planning time! You will find lots of brilliantly-creative wedding ideas here that will inspire you, and add a contemporary edge to your wedding. All wedding photography by me, of course!

    1. Celestial Beings

Starry-eyed brides and grooms will love this theme. With so much scope for creativity, you can go all out like Jess and Crispin did (above and below), or maybe just add a casual nod to the night sky like star-shaped fairy lights on tables. Either way, it’s heavenly…

    Starry heels by  Charlotte Olympia

    2. See-through spaces

Who doesn’t love the contemporary elegance of a Louis Ghost chair? They are one of the easiest ways to add this cool and modern wedding trend, though the same effect can be created by hiring an elegant glass-filled room – perhaps an orangery – as your wedding venue. It opens up the space beautifully, avoiding a heavy, cluttered look. Wedding styling by Always Andri (above left and below) and HeartShaped Weddings (above right).

    3. Black is the colour

Add some drama to your decor with modern accents of black. Less is more and simplicity is the key to getting it right. Mix with some gold elements for the ultimate sophistication.

    old & Minimalist Wedding Style

    4. Paper Art

Many stationery suppliers offer a bespoke service, allowing you to create something that reflects who you are. Scandi wedding invitations (above right) by  Paper Arrow Press.

I love Rachel’s gorgeous invitations above, featuring a wonderful drawing of their ceremony church, by the bride’s close friend which beautifully picks up the rich  reds of the bouquet.

    5. Relaxed braids

I have photographed enough weddings to know that many carefully-coiffed brides begin to see their updos unravel by the time the guests are seated for dinner. If you’re a relaxed and chilled bride, you are going to love this new trend. These gorgeous braids will perfectly complement a modern lightweight wedding dress – full of movement and natural elegance.

    Hair styling by Cassandra Rizzuto

    6. Bridal tiaras

Tiaras are turning heads in 2018, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Alina’s look was inspired by one of her favourite works of art:  Vrubel’s Swan Princess – how enchanting does she look? Or for a more subtle take on it, Jessica is wearing the ‘Hedy’s halo crown’ from The Pink Collar Life.

Alina rocking her tiara at her Chelsea wedding to Ricky.

    7. New Food

This is a big London wedding trend and one that appeals to many of us. On your wedding day, wouldn’t it be great to see all of your guests mingling with each other, rather than confined to one seat for the entire meal? Food vans, spit roasts and bowl food have all featured at weddings I’ve photographed recently and I really love the relaxed atmosphere they help create.

    8. Dessert Tables

Dessert tables continue the easy food trend, creating not just an eye-catching display for your wedding guests to “ooh” and “ahh” over, they’re also a great conversation starter and an epicurean’s delight.

I hope you enjoyed this brief look at some of the best 2018 wedding trends so far.

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph all of the gorgeous examples above, so clearly I have worked with some very cool brides and grooms! If you are looking for stylish, modern and cool wedding photography, I would love to hear your wedding plans in the form below, and I will get back to you with all the answers you need as soon as possible!

    Happy wedding planning!

Engagement photography | Verity and Joe in Brighton

Verity and Joe first met when they were students in Brighton, so it was the perfect location for their engagement photography session.

Spending a beautiful afternoon walking through the lanes and along the promenade brought back all of the memories they share of this wonderful city. Brighton has got to be one of my favourite places in Britain; so full of character and originality, and on the day we were blessed with the most perfect winter light. Such a lovely, relaxed engagement photography shoot – my favourite kind!

Verity and Joe will be getting married next year in  Loseley Park, one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Surrey which I cannot wait to capture for them. We first met when they visited my stand at the amazing  Brides the Show last year; wedding fairs are a great way to see a curated selection of wedding suppliers that fit your style and needs.

  • Kirsteen and Joe engagement session | Chiswick wedding photographer

I had a lovely engagement shoot with Kirsteen and Joe earlier this year, which I’m finally getting round to blogging! We took a walk together around the grounds of Chiswick House and Gardens, a stunning Palladian villa surrounded by landscaped gardens in West London.

Kirsteen and Joe met at Nottingham University back in 2006, fell in love pretty quickly and while they both went their separate ways for their Year Abroad (Joe to Auckland and Kirsteen to Paris), when Joe returned, he headed straight to the City of Love to find her and the rest is history. This week, they will be getting married at  St.Nicolas’s Church in Chiswick followed by a reception at the  Thames Rowing Club in Putney which I am really looking forward to capturing for them.

Please scroll down to see some of the images from their engagement shoot at this stunning location.

And if you are looking for a Chiswick wedding photographer, please get in touch using the contact form below – I’d love to hear all about it!
