Gorgeous West Sussex wedding – Duncton Village Hall

Amidst the beautiful surroundings of Duncton village in the South Downs, Phoebe and Wayne held their West Sussex wedding celebration.

As parents to little Rose, they wanted their day to be focused on fun and games, so all of their family and friends could relax outdoors and the children could run wild!

Phoebe worked hard to create an incredible day from start to finish, and every detail was thoughtfully considered. The elegant, rustic theme worked perfectly with the countryside setting, and celebrated the beautiful simplicity of nature.

Jenny is most definitely a foodie.

I first met her several years ago, when she was co-hosting a supper club in south west London, and she presented her guests with a gastronomical feast worthy of a Michelin star. Her parents are originally from China, so she was brought up in a culture where food plays a central role; it is a sensuous experience that brings joy to all.

When Jenny met Irishman Ed, he took the bold step of inviting her to a dim sum restaurant on their first date. A touch over-confident possibly, but she was still impressed. In fact, she was won over by his charm, intelligence and his relaxed, good-natured way. They fell in love, enjoyed many more culinary delights together, and have shared their love of travel, food and adventure ever since.

Their modern London wedding took place in the luxury and splendour of the Grosvenor Hotel, a grand Victorian establishment on Buckingham Palace Road, which ushered in a Golden Age of Travel when it was built in 1862 by Victoria station.

A stylish and romantic civil ceremony was held in the Orient Suite followed by an elegant champagne reception. After a change of outfit by Jenny, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony was held before an incredible twelve course wedding banquet at The Royal Imperial Chinese restaurant.

It was a day so rich in culture and celebration; the best a wedding photographer can ever hope for. It was such a joy to watch the moments unfold, and see the guests reaction to the incredible feast before them.

Jenny and Ed, thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer and I wish you both a long and happy marriage – full of love and adventure. And excellent food, of course!

Jenny spent the morning with her bridesmaids in the Cora Pearl suite at The Grosvenor Hotel. Her sister Wendy was in charge of bridal make-up with help and moral support from her sister Susan and the rest of her bridesmaids.

The Chinese believe in fate. Legend has it that the gods would tie an invisible red lace around the ankle of the son of one family and the daughter of another family, who are to marry some day. As time passes, the red knot brings them closer without any need of effort from either person. The lives intertwine at the perfect moment.

Jenny changed into a beautiful red silk Chinese wedding dress by before the tea ceremony.

The traditional Chinese tea ceremony is the equivalent of an exchange of vows between the bride and groom and their families.

A 12 course Chinese wedding banquet representing happiness, longevity and fertility was bestowed upon Jenny and Ed’s wedding guests on Saturday. A menu card was placed on each table explaining the meaning behind each dish.

Modern Hindu Chinese fusion wedding – Part Two | Hertfordshire wedding photographer

You’ve already seen Sheila and Eugene’s beautiful Hindu wedding ceremony in an earlier post on this blog. Personally, I would’ve been quite happy with just that, but they had even more visual delights for everyone (including this wedding photographer). While the guests enjoyed the party, the newly-weds slipped away and prepared for Part Two of their nuptials. Sheila was transformed into a sleek, modern bride in a sparkling strapless gown and amazing rose gold Converse, while the groom looked picture perfect in his Hugo Boss suit. They held their simple but stylish civil ceremony in the Orangery, and after a late-afternoon photo session, the speeches commenced and the party began.

A huge congratulations to the beautiful bride and groom, wishing you many years of happiness together.

If ever a bride was gonna do things her way, it was Louise.

There were no bridesmaids, but she did have a best man. There was even a ‘beast man’ – her brother Geoffrey.

Louise is an original. A creative and free-spirited girl, who makes sure every detail is just right and doesn’t settle for second-best. Her handsome and kind husband is a good example of that. Louise and Pete met online. A few years earlier, Pete had moved to Dublin from Wisconsin to complete his MBA and luckily for him, his bride-to-be had also settled in Ireland’s capital.

Sadly, Louise lost her wonderful dad quite recently so the idea of walking up the aisle felt empty without him by her side. Instead, in true romantic style, they decided to elope to San Francisco, then hold a proper shindig (a.k.a. an Irish wedding reception) back on the Emerald Isle a few months later.

They held their reception at Glasson Country House Hotel, in County Westmeath. Situated on the banks of Lough Ree, and home to one of Ireland’s top golf courses, it made a stunning setting for the marital celebration.

The stylish bride wore a dreamy bridal gown by Tadashi Shoji, supplied by Covet at Powerscourt Townhouse. This was accessorised with No.1 by Jenny Packham heels (complete with personalised soles) and a beautiful vintage-style headpiece – handmade by the creative bride. She even designed the incredible wedding invitations.Louise’s make-up artist (and Instagram bestie) Christine Radomskas Gallagher flew over specially from Boston, Massachusetts with her husband, Dan. A long way, but when it’s a dear friend it’s always worth the journey!

The floral decor and bouquets were created by A Room in Bloom.The groom wore a classic Louis Copeland tailored suit, finished with a pair of customised cufflinks – a gift from the bride. Louise’s 89 year old granny looked so radiant, she almost stole the show… The reception evoked the spirit of San Francisco and the couple shared the joy of their elopement with all of their nearest and dearest. One of the most impressive creations at the wedding – the incredible cake made by the bride’s talented mother! A classic Irish menu was served, including rosette of smoked salmon and pan-seared fillet of hake… It was truly an honour to photograph such a special and intimate wedding, full of passion and originality – just like the bride.

It’s a long way to Tipperary | modern wedding photography Ireland | Destination wedding photographer

My sister Annemarie is eighteen months older than me. Growing up, our relationship was a volatile brew of love and hate which is probably perfectly normal for most siblings. We knew just how to press each other’s button yet were still thick as thieves. As we got older, our lives took different paths; we both lived overseas at various times, but always far apart. In 2006, after spending a few years in Montreal, I moved to London, and my sister informed me that she would be moving there as well. Being away from home for so long, to hear that a family member would soon be your neighbour was quite an amazing feeling. We both lived it up in London for a while, then she and her fiancé moved to Surrey when their son Odhrán was born. Naturally, I got pregnant too, so myself and my husband moved to the same village a year later. We’ve been in Walton-on-Thames for two years now, and our sons could not be better friends. This makes me smile every day, and I’m so glad it worked out this way.

After quite a long engagement, Annemarie and her partner Rhys finally got round to planning their big day. They wanted something low-key and intimate so decided it should take place in County Tipperary, Ireland, where we had grown up together. They asked me to take on the double role of bridesmaid and photographer for the day, which I was a little unsure of at first. But as it was such a laid back affair, it worked out perfectly as I got to capture some really special family moments and be a part of the memory too. After helping our lovely sister into her Mori Lee gown, and getting into our own mint-green Ariella London bridesmaid dresses at the family home, we escorted the bride to the local church where a wonderful ceremony took place. Afterwards, the wedding party drove south to Cashel, a town rich in history and home to the iconic Rock of Cashel. The reception was held at Cashel Palace Hotel, an elegant Georgian mansion set in the heart of the town. It was a wonderfully intimate and relaxed day, and I felt very lucky to share the day with such great neighbours!
